A ranger is a hybrid class combining elements from the warrior and druid castes. Rangers are primarily melee based, but specialize in dealing high levels of damage through bow and arrow attacks.
While not considered tanks due to their chain armor, rangers receive many of the same melee abilities as their warrior bretheren. Rangers are the only hybrid class to receive both the dual wield and double attack abilities. They are also the only non-tank class that can taunt. Like warriors, rangers have access to all types of single-hand and two-hand melee weapons.
From the druid class, rangers receive many enhancement ("buff") spells, including heals and regeneration, run speed enhancements, and thorn-based damage shields. They also have a unique line of spells that enhances an adventurer's attack rating. In addition to spells, a ranger's ability to track adventurers and monsters far exceeds that of a druid or bard. Certain races may also forage. Meditation is made available to rangers.
Feir'Dal and Halfling rangers may sneak and hide, though these skills are capped at 50.
Rangers are a popular choice for adventurers who prefer sharing their travels throughout Norrath with members of a group, as their ranged damage and ability to track make them a welcome addition as "pullers." Their ability to snare or root gives them the option of adventuring alone from time to time, employing aggro kiting much like a druid, using arrows instead of spells to damage their opponents.

Rangers are nature's warriors, and are considered a good class. Good and neutral races, including Half-Elves, Halflings, humans, and wood elves, have the option of joining this caste. Rangers cannot be agnostic. Like druids, they may worship Tunare or Karana.
