Tailoring
From The EQMac Wiki
Tailoring is a tradeskill that allows tailors to combine various types of cloths, silks, animal skins, and patterns into useful products, such as backpacks. Cloth and leather armor can also be fashioned with this tradeskill. As this tradeskill relies heavily on animal hides, it requires a fair amount of time finding and hunting various types of creatures (spiders and furry animals).
Important note: trivials reported on EQTraders may be wrong on our server. The data on Allakabor may agree with EQTraders but could still be wrong. Trivials that are thought to be wrong include:
- arctic wyvern hide armor. Reported as 252 but thought to be 335ish.
- Ceremonial Solstice Robe. Reported as 252 but thought to be 335ish as well.
Some faster, cheaper and/or easier recipes (one each unless stated otherwise):
- 1-66 Woven Mandrake: 2 Mandrake Root, purchasable from any alchemy vendor
- 1-15 Silk swatches and threads (no-fail): There are various types, all useful for future tailoring combines. The most common are 2 Spider Silks = 1 Silk Swatch. 2 Spiderling Silks = 1 Silk Thread.
- 16-21: Could visit your guild trainer for these as the next combines all involve potential failure and this could save some loss of materials.
- 22-95 Greyhopper Hide Armor: Generally the easiest path. Combine 1 Greyhopper hide + 1 boot pattern (best option). You get this hide or a low quality one (useful for leather padding) off of any grey hopper marus seru. The mobs are fairly abundant with a fast re-spawn rate.
- 96-108 Reinforced Hopperhide Armor: 1 HQ Rockhopper hide + 1-3 Steel Bonings + Pattern. Mask uses only 1 boning.
- 96-131 Crystalline Silk Armor: 1-3 Crystalline Silk Swatches (farmed) + 1 Silver Thread (bought) + Pattern. Different trivial for the patterns. Mantles (118 trivial) use 1 silk, Sleeves (124), and Tunics (131) use 3 silks.
- 131-158: Wu's Fighting Armor.
- -135: Wu's Fighting Wristbands: 4 Heady Kiola + 1 Silk Swatch + 1 Vial of Viscous Mana + 1 Wristband Pattern
- -142: Wu's Fighting Slippers: 4 Heady Kiola + 2 Silk Swatch + 1 Vial of Viscous Mana + 1 Boot Pattern
- -151: Wu's Fighting Sleeves: 4 Heady Kiola + 2 Silk Swatch + 1 Vial of Viscous Mana + 1 Sleeve Pattern
- -158: Wu's Fighting Shire: 4 Heady Kiola + 3 Silk Swatch + 1 Vial of Viscous Mana + 1 Tunic Pattern
- -188: Acrylia Studded Mask: Acrylia Studs + Superb Rockhopper Hide + Paella Bark Tannin + Mask Pattern
- -242: Acrylia Reinforced Mask: Acrylia Boning + Flawless Rockhopper Hide + Paella Bark Tannin + Mask Pattern
- -335: Ceremonial Solstice Robe: This is an expensive complicated combine that costs 343 plat per successful combine. Failures cost 93 plat as one of the expensive sub-combines is returned on a failure. However, the only farmed item are the silk swatches. It may be far faster to farm silk and cash than superb / flawless rockhopper hides and acrylia. See EQTraders for the full recipe.
Other options:
- 26 Silk Cord: 3 Silk Threads in loom. Used to craft a number of bags as well as a subcomine for the Blessed Fishing Rod.
- 31 Leather Padding: 1 LQ hide/pelt/etc + 1 Silk Thread.. Used extensively in smithing.
- 36 Raw Silk: 1 silk swatch + 1 pattern, Tunics or legs require 2 and are not as good for skillups. Personally, I have found the silk is better saved for higher trivials.
- 46 Dire Wolf Fur (Patch or Woven): Halfling only. Patch is made from 3 foraged tufts + embroidering needle (re-usable). Woven is 3 patches + needle. The forage can be tedious but for anyone later planning to make 100% Haversacks, this is a needed step.
- 66 Woven Mandrake: 2 Mandrake Roots. Storebought mats and costs under 5 pp per combine and can be used to make picnic baskets. EDIT : check the price on this - Mandrake root cost my ugly dwarven self over 50pp a stack! (Corrected)
- 76 Picnic Basket: 1 Steel boning (smithed) + 1 Woven Mandrake (see above) = 10 baskets. Used in higher level baking combines.
- 82 Cured Silk Collar: Gorget Pattern + 2 Heady Kiola + Silk Swatch
- 88 Handmade Backpack: 1 HQ bear or rockhopper hide + 1 Backpack Pattern. 10-slot, 10% WR bag.
