A well known player on the Al`Kabor server, little is known about the person behind the Ranger. Some have speculated they are actually one of the surviving members of the original cast of The Golden Girls. However, efforts to either confirm or deny this rumor have proven unsuccessful. Anonymous yet credible sources have given rise to the competing rumor Utdaan is in fact the father of the musical genre Crabcore, and his real life stardom is one of the major reasons for his digital secrecy.

Paludal Caverns is the cool place to hang out. You can find most of the cool people there. In Paludal you can just chill and do whatever and totally relax. "Take it easy" is the Paludal motto, for example, that's how laid back it is there. Show up if you want to have a good time. Another good reason to show up is if you want to hang out with friends.
[edit] Origins of Utdaan
The subject of the origin of Utdaan is a topic of intense debate. Most Erudite citizens of Al`Kabor attribute the origin of Utdaan to a large explosion occuring at the beginning of time in what is known as the "Big Utdaan Theory." A competing theory more widely accepted by the largely deity worshiping population is that Utdaan was originally created by Tunare as a female Dark Elf Cleric in 1998 known as Mufin. With the death of Mufin occurring somewhere around 2001, Utdaan was later reborn on the Macintosh server as a male Wood Elf Ranger.

During the early years of Al`Kabor Utdaan began publishing a series of articles condemning the laissez-faire economic practices of the Bazaar and it's powerful merchants union "The Legacy of Ka." In 2004 this culminated in his efforts to organize a large, serverwide sit-in demonstration at the East Commonlands tunnel in protest of the Shady Swashbuckler. Without water and iron rations, Utdaan sat alone for five days until he was informed the Shady Swashbuckler was in fact merely a computer generated character.

For much of Norrath's recorded history, those who have taken up the profession Ranger have largely been disregarded as inferior to more traditional infantry and heavy cavalry forces. However, during the Great Troll and Ogre Campaigns when the continent of Faydwer was on the verge of being consumed a young Wood Elf began organizing L-shaped ambushes and guerrilla raids deep in the forests of Faydark. Utdaan writes in Ranger Field Manual FM 11-7:
"The purpose of a Ranger is to locate, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver, and to repel the enemy assault through bow fire and close combat."
